Today was day 2 of my 3 day winter skills course and myself, Henry and Karisia were joined by Craig and we all made our way up the glen towards Stob corie nan Lochan in Glen Coe which was just in the cloud. As we made our way up the day got brighter and clearer where we were able to see to Ben Nevis where we were yesterday.
The temperatures were slightly higher today and with overnight rain the snow had consolidated and the freezing level had risen slightly, creating a few interesting layers in the corie which we looked at whilst digging hasty pits to test the strength of the bonds between the layers.
With a few more practices at ice axe arrests Henry and Karisia were disappointed to have to move on up the hill, where we talked about route choice and planning with regards to safe travel over snow slopes. With the wind hitting us as soon as we got onto the top of the crags we made our way round to the summit over a lot of rock. With a quick photo in the strong wind we made our way back down.
There were a few climbers on the crags today, Dorsel arête, twisting grooves and Ordinary Route.
