T-shirt climbing… in Glen Coe

Today birthday boy Matt and myself sweated our way up to Crowberry Ridge on Buachaille Etive Mor on the hottest day of the year.  With a busy path of people making their way to Curved ridge we broke off towards the North East face.  First up was Fracture Route VS 4c** which I led in one pitch to the top of pitch 2 where there is abseil tat.  The route is steep and the holds were not oblivious for parts of it but with good gear everywhere, I made my way over the 2 bulges and I was there.

Next up was Engineer’s crack E1 5b** which Matt had his eye on.  He abseiled down the route and placed a few key runners and then led the pitch well back up to the tat.  There was not any real definite crux on the route but it got steadily harder and with good climbing throughout.  We then had a quick go at Dingle HVS 5a** up the corner below the abseil line, which if you like lay backing then this is 25 meters of it.  With gear everywhere again you just had to hold on long enough to place it as foot holds were not forthcoming.

A good day in the sun and a pint in the Clachaig inn.
