A windy Buachaille

The plan was to climb Hiccup a VS 5a route on Central Buttress.  The day started as summer, walking in with t-shirts and sunglasses.  Myself and Lena climbed the first 3 pitches of North Face Route, a severe to get up to the base of Hiccup.  With some good climbing we made our way easily up.  However the wind was also increasing as we went, with near constant gusts of around 30-40mph which made it hard to climb with a bag on.  We got to the first belay of Hiccup and being buffeted around we decided that it wasn’t the day to do the route which goes onto the arête of the buttress.  So we turned round, found some abseil tat and headed down.

The second half of the day/evening myself and Claire went down Glen Nevis and got a quick route in up Pinnacle arête, which was made trickier as I forgot to pack my climbing shoes!  So had to climb the route in my Berghaus ‘death shoes’ instead.
