Yesterday I took a group of 7 along the CMD arête and then up to the summit of Ben Nevis for Lake District Walker. The group did well getting to the top of Carn Mor Dearg in good time in testing conditions. It was defiantly winter up there. With a stiff wind blowing across us we made our way down to the arête, where the weather brightened and the wind eased. By mid afternoon we were at the final slope up to the top of the Ben and made our way up in deteriorating weather. With the cloud down it started snowing and visibility was at a minimum. But at about 4.30pm we reached the summit! A few photos later everyone was keen to get down back to summer. A few hours later we were making our way through the forest and back to the cars.
A good day, everyone was happy they achieved the walk and glad they went round the arête rather than up the tourist path. But everyone had defiantly reached the limit of their endurance and 9.5 hours later we were at the cars.
