Carn Mor Dearg

Today I was working for Richard Bentley of Mountain motion.  After meeting the 11 civil servants from London the decision was made to have a go at the CMD arete then towards the summit of the Ben.  After trying to miss the bike trials at Nevis Range we headed for the top car park of the north face.

We headed up and got more views than was expected of the north face of the Ben.  Making our way up towards the summit the wind was getting stronger and the rain was becoming more persistent.  The decision was made towards Carn Beag Dearg (1010m) that the gusts in the wind were too strong (about 55mph) to attempt the ridge, so a secondary goal was set of Carn Mor Dearg.

The fitter and keener majority of the group headed for the true summit at 1220m and I continued into the cloud with 3 that were content and thrilled to get the the top of Carn Dearg Meadhonach (1179m) slightly to the north.  After a very quick break we started to head down towards the Allt a’ Mhuilinn path.  A very wet and windy day overall.
